Marketing Training

The Marketing Training today at FMTC in Fruitland was attended by half a dozen regular members, and one nerd (not pictured). Topics covered were hedging with options, futures, and the importance of knowledge of basis when dealing with these techniques.

The Grainbridge training was well received. The consensus was that most attendees would either start, or continue using the program.

Annual Banquet Feb. 18th, Marketing Seminar Feb. 19th

This year's Payette County Farm Bureau Federation Annual Banquet will be held at the Ontario Elk's Lodge #1690 on February 18th starting at 7pm. Tickets to the banquet are $15 each, and are available from board members, as well as the county office. Get your tickets early! This is going to be a great meal, at an unbelievable price. One of our speakers will be a representative from Alta Mesa to update us on the drilling and construction tied to the oil and gas industry locally. Additionally, someone from the Legislative Affairs Committee will have an update on relevant legislation in the Statehouse this session.

There will be a Marketing Seminar the following day, February 19th, from 10am until 2pm, at the FMTC boardroom in Fruitland. Lunch will be provided. This training will cover various topics in the marketing area, as well as some GrainBridge training, if needed.

Class Dismissed. Open Candidate Forum runs late.

The 'Meet the Candidates' event this evening in New Plymouth turned out really well. We had almost seventy attendees, and the cookies held out until the end. We went nearly an hour over, but there was a lot of great discussion.

Meet the Candidates

Tomorrow, at 7:00 PM, the candidates for District 9 House and Senate will be speaking at the Internet Truckstop building. Galen Lee will moderate the six candidates and we'll see what they have to say about all the issues you care about.

There is also a Legislative Update prior to that with the incumbent candidates at the same location, at 5:30.

Dairy Air

Well, getting ready to head back to the fair. Our first day was good, made contact with at least half a dozen interested teachers for the 'Ag in the Classroom' trailer.

We're now located in the Dairy barn next to the Dairy Board display. Printed out signage to that effect and will post as soon as we get there.

Holy Cow!

Well, we just got to see the 'Ag in the Classroom' Trailer. Looks like it should be a good time. We'll be parked just North of the rabbit barn, open from around noon until 8 or 9 pm, each day of the fair.

Payette County Fair

It's almost Fair time!

In addition to the usual minimally staffed booth, this year the County Federaton is planning on having the 'Ag in the Classroom' trailer on the grounds as well.

What does this mean? We're glad you asked.

Well, we're not completely sure ourselves. What we do know is that the exhibit is geared toward teachers, with different teaching modules that can be used for different lessons and subjects. We also know the most popular module, and the one that will be in use the most during the fair, is the cow milking one.

So, if you feel the need to learn how to milk a fake cow, come on down to the Payette County Fair at the Fair and Rodeo Grounds in New Plymouth, Aug. 8th-11th. We'll hook you up.
